15.09.2004 2004 – last season for the “Rügen” ferry on the Sassnitz–Rønne route

Scandlines shipping company will not be resuming ferry traffic on the Sassnitz -Rønne (island of Bornholm) line after the winter break.
This means that the ferry vessel “Rügen” will make its final crossing between the two ports at the end of the summer schedule on 31 October 2004.

The German-Danish Scandlines shipping company continued to maintain its market share in the overall Baltic Sea ferry traffic sector in the first half of 2004 and further expanded its position in a number of segments. A total of 492,722 trucks (+7.8 %), 1,843,608 cars (+10.5 %), 8,951,001 passengers (+5.5 %), 41,228 buses/coaches (-3.6 %) and 56,140 railcars (+4.5 %) were carried on the Scandlines AG routes over the first six months of this year.

07.04.2004 Travelling with the Scandlines shipping company to the new EU countries of Lithuania and Latvia

The German-Danish shipping company, Scandlines, already offers four for passenger-routes from Germany and Sweden to the tourist attractions of Lithuania and Latvia.

The Kurshskiy Zaliv lagoon and the revered Hanseatic cities of Riga, Tallinn and Vilnius were among the most popular destinations for visitors to the Baltic region up to the beginning of World War II. After 1945, the Baltic States of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, which then belonged to the Soviet Union, were quite close for most tourists but nonetheless inaccessible.

02.02.2004 Scandlines shipping line celebrates 10th anniversary of the Rostock - Liepaja ferry route with new record numbers

The FS “Urd” carried almost 16,500 trucks and trailers in 2003 / Scandlines strategy plans further expansion of routes to the Baltic States and Finland

On 4 February 2004, Scandlines AG will celebrate the 10th anniversary of its Rostock–Liepaja ferry route with new record numbers. Last year, the German-Danish shipping line carried a total of 16,496 trucks and trailers plus 18,266 passengers on the ferry crossing, which was opened as a cargo link. This represents 26.8 % more cargo units than in the previous year.

The year 2003 spelled out renewed success for transport developments on the ferry lines operated by the Scandlines shipping company, with the excellent results attained in 2002 improved upon yet again in almost all traffic segments. All in all, the German-Danish shipping group carried a total of 19,962,055 passengers, 4,002,282 cars, 916,295 trucks and trailers, 90,950 buses/coaches, plus 107,416 railcars on its 17 routes in the triangle between Germany, Denmark and Sweden as well as to the Baltic States and Finland.
