Faster crossing between Germany and Denmark to be officially presented on 28 April 2005
Scandlines is presenting the even faster Rostock-Gedser route launched on 1 February this year to invited guests from the fields of politics, business and the media on 28 April 2005. The guests will include his Excellency, the Ambassador of the Royal Danish Embassy in Germany, Mr. Gunnar Ortmann.
The German-Danish shipping company has not only been able to reduce the crossing time on this route from 120 to just 105 minutes through the modernisation of the two ferry vessels, the “Prins Joachim” and the “Kronprins Frederik”; the capacity of the line has also been increased by up to 15%. The two modernised ferries each provide 700 lane metres of cargo space or room for up to 210 cars plus 1,000 passengers.
Scandlines has also carried out extensive upgrading measures on board the two ships, including the restaurant area, which now offers passengers even better service and comfort. With these measures, Scandlines has further enhanced the attractiveness and service quality of this popular ferry link between Germany and Denmark. In conjunction with the completion of the A20 highway between Lübeck and Rostock at the end of last year, both holidaymakers and transport firms can now reach destinations like the Danish capital, Copenhagen, or the Swedish mainland about an hour earlier than previously.
